The E appliance is a dual-arch, BPA-free device designed to absorb the pressure from grinding or clenching, protecting your teeth from enamel erosion and fractures. While durable, it is meant to gradually wear down over time instead of your teeth.
To ensure effectiveness, bring it to your re-care appointments for monitoring and adjustments. The cost is similar to a crown but can save you thousands in future restorative work. It’s a smart, proactive solution for preserving dental health.
Yes! The E appliance is designed to relieve jaw pain by providing a single point of contact, helping to relax muscles while you sleep. By reducing tension from grinding or clenching, it prevents soreness and stiffness upon waking.
Over time, many users experience smaller jaw muscles due to decreased clenching, which can even lead to a slimmer facial appearance. Beyond pain relief, the appliance promotes a more relaxed and refreshed feeling each morning.
We do not recommend over-the-counter mouth guards, as they are not designed to fit your specific bite. Using these can lead to discomfort and, in some cases, long-term issues. The E appliance, however, is custom-made by a knowledgeable professional who specializes in tailoring it to fit your unique teeth and bite.
The E appliance is more expensive than most options, but it is one of the few appliances that is dual-arch, providing stabilization and protection for both your upper and lower teeth. Unlike machine-made alternatives, the E appliance is custom-crafted by a highly skilled lab technician who understands that each person's mouth is unique and requires a personalized approach.
If you need a filling or a crown after having an appliance, most of the time we can reline the inside of the appliance and continue using it. However, if for some reason we can't reline the appliance, you would only need to replace the portion where the dental work was done. In that case, the cost would be minimal.
We recommend cleaning your appliance with your toothbrush and a small amount of mouthwash each morning. Be sure to store it in a cool place, away from pets, as this is an expensive chew toy for dogs. Avoid boiling the appliance to clean it, and never leave it in a hot car. When traveling, we suggest keeping it in your carry-on bag
There is a slight adjustment period if you haven't worn an appliance before, especially a dual arch appliance. However, we've found that our patients usually get used to it quickly and often can't sleep without it.
